"Harley is a wonder!" That's the first line
of the poem Karen wrote for
Harley while he was still in foster care, and we couldn't agree
with it more!
Harley came into our lives in August 2001, and we could
have never imagined
how much he would affect our daily routine. He has grounded us
more and has
brought a different focus to our lives. Everyday we count our
blessings
and are grateful to have stumbled upon him. We simply cannot understand
how
someone didn't want him anymore. He is gentle in so many ways,
energetic,
funny, lovable, talkative, and sometimes clumsy ? which suits
us fine. To us,
all he's asking is to be fed, stroked and taken care of. Beyond
that,
everything seems to be a bonus.
Harley has now taken on jogging, and soon will be cross-country
skiing.
His favorite walks are in the trails along the river valley and
he still
gets really excited when he spots a squirrel or a hare. Another
of Harley's
favourite activities is to figure out ways to get out of his dog
run or to
move it around. That must be the terrier creative side coming
out of him.
As a result of his ingenious mind, we have renamed him Harley
Oliver
Houdini; the dog who doesn't get bored!
We probably have two major regrets about Harley: first,
we wish we knew his
history so that more wonderful dogs like him would exist; second,
we wish
we had met him five years ago so we could have enjoyed his company
even
longer.
Thank you very much to Karen and AireCanada for doing
such wonderful work!
