Wise Words
Use those talents you have. You will make it. You will give joy to the world. Take this tip from nature: The woods would be a very silent place if no birds sang except those who sang best.

On the Move

As if surrounded by a celestial halo, space shuttle Discovery made its way towards the expansive confines of NASA Kennedy Space Center's Vehicle Assembly Building following a move from its processing hangar on Sept. 9, 2010. A metal sling will be carefully connected to the spacecraft and then operators will hoist it from transfer aisle to the high reaches of the 52-story building before lowering it into place beside the external fuel tank and twin solid rocket boosters. Crews then will connect the spacecraft giving the stack its familiar launch day form. Discovery is targeted to liftoff on the 11-day STS-133 mission on Nov. 1 at 4:40 p.m. EDT. 2009-12-04--clinicGreetings, Gentle Reader.

I won’t get into the disgusting details, but I woke up this morning worse than yesterday, which was worse than the day before.   Based on a couple of things this morning (and the current pain in my chest and back), I’m pretty sure the pneumonia has gathered its troops and is camping out in my lungs again.

There are not enough swear words in all of the languages of the world to adequately convey my opinion of this.

Anyway, in desperation I booked an appointment at the after-hours clinic where, once again, I had to don a mask, and, once again, the doctor seemed convinced I was a raging hypochondriac.  (I thought last time I’d had to go to the after-hours clinic might’ve just been an “off” day for him, but no.)  He grudgingly gave me a slip to get an x-ray on Monday and said that if I wanted to come back, he’d probably have the results by Wednesday.

Translation: “You’re not sick enough to be treated.  Go away for a few days, get really good and sick, bring me pictorial proof, and then we’ll talk.”

Given the choice between the after-hours clinic and spending 6+ hours at the emergency department’s waiting room, it’ll be a hard call next time.  Ah, New Brunswick: putting the “hell” in “health care.”

But at least I got yet another free face mask, eh? :)

You’ve GOT to be kidding, right?!??!

I was STUNNED once I saw your new blog, with your new halloween mask!

Anyhow, I’ve been wheezing lately, and Friday’s clinic was at the Carleton Kirk Center. Soooo, call it Karma, but I decided to get my HeeNee shot.

I “should” be immune after 2 weeks. I use “should” in quotations marks because I’ve recently read that the HeeNee Virus has mutated and that doctors aren’t too, too sure if this HeeNee shot will be good enough for it’s mutated cousin.

    :-(

Rest, my friend… I know you’ve got cabin fever and TONS of things you WANT and NEED to get down, but REST is the best thing… I hate to say…

Maybe I’ve got its mutant cousin now. Who knows?! :)

Hope you don’t end up in the flu cycle Andy and I had to deal with when we got back to Alberta this summer. For about 3 months one or the other of us was sick. It ended up working out that the 2 weeks of the month one of us was well, the other was sick. Probably caught it from the coughing guy on the plane ride home.

    Get well soon.
